METHODS OF INQUIRY

This artifact marks my realization that something is wrong with me and what has worked in the past is no longer effective. I am talking about my hypothyroidism and the inability to get it under control. If I knew then what I know now, my spirit would have been crushed. But, at this point I am very optimistic that things will be fixed in the normal six to twelve week period.

In the meantime, this being my first semester in graduate school, I began to notice marked differences in certain areas – mainly in my cognitive function or lack thereof. From this initial assessment of my scholastic performance, I noticed it was hard to concentrate, get motivated, to stay on task, to focus and ultimately live up to my normal standard.

This annotated bibliography will morph into the biggest project and area of interest of my entire life. This research barely scratches the surface of what I will uncover in my quest to become my own advocate when it comes to my health; both physically and mentally. This class taught me how to start; how to take a huge, intimidating idea for research and do what is usually the hardest part of any endeavor – begin!
